WHO WE ARE
Sunrise Chicago is a local chapter of the Sunrise Movement, a movement of young people (under 35) fighting to stop the climate crisis and win a Green New Deal.
Since our founding in January 2019, we have grown into a diverse community full of passionate members. We strive to build a cross-class, multiracial movement that will end the reign of fossil fuel elites, invest in Black, brown and working class communities, and create millions of good union jobs.

PEOPLE POWER TEAM
The People Power Team is responsible for growing and developing our Chapter’s membership, facilitating Chapter-wide community building, and managing both the Chapter’s internal and external communications.
POLITICAL POWER TEAM
The Political Power team is responsible for managing the Chapter’s partnerships, running or supporting short-term local, state, and national climate/environmental justice campaigns, and growing the number of elected officials who will champion the vision of a Green New Deal at all levels of government
GND4CPS CAMPAIGN TEAM
The GND4CPS Campaign team is responsible for running the Chapter’s Green New Deal for Chicago Public Schools (GND4CPS) Campaign. The GND4CPS Campaign aims to win tangible change for our public schools and communities and build our base in working class Black + Latine communities.
